The Gospel Message
The word gospel means “good news.” The New Testament presents the gospel as the message of Jesus Christ—His life, His death for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).
The gospel is God’s power to save (Romans 1:16). It calls all people to turn to God, obey the teachings of Christ, and receive the hope of eternal life.
The gospel offers:
- Forgiveness of sins
- Peace with God
- A new life in Christ
- The promise of resurrection
- The hope of heaven
This message is for every nation, every person, and every generation.
The Plan of Salvation
The New Testament reveals a clear and hopeful path to becoming a Christian. These steps are not human tradition—they are drawn directly from Scripture.
Hear (Matthew 28:18)
Jesus declared that all authority belongs to Him. Hearing the gospel means listening to His teaching and understanding His call to follow Him.
Believe (Mark 16:16)
Jesus taught that belief in Him is essential to salvation. Faith is trusting that He is the Son of God and that His words are true.
Repent (Luke 13:3)
Repentance is a change of heart that leads to a change of life. Jesus said plainly that unless we repent, we will perish.
Confess (Romans 10:9–10)
Confessing Christ means openly acknowledging Him as Lord and believing in His resurrection.
Be Baptized (Acts 2:38)
Peter taught that baptism is for the remission of sins. In baptism, we are united with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3–4).
Walk Faithfully (Revelation 2:10)
Becoming a Christian is the beginning of a new life. Jesus calls His followers to remain faithful, even in trials, with the promise of the crown of life.
The Blood of Christ
The blood of Jesus is central to salvation. It cleanses us from sin (1 John 1:7), redeems us (Ephesians 1:7), and brings us near to God (Ephesians 2:13).
The New Testament teaches:
- Christ’s blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28)
- We are justified by His blood (Romans 5:9)
- The church was purchased with His blood (Acts 20:28)
Without the blood of Christ, there is no salvation. Through His sacrifice, God offers mercy, grace, and reconciliation.
Grace, Faith, and Obedience
Salvation is a gift of God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8). We cannot earn it, deserve it, or achieve it by our own merit.
Yet grace does not remove the need for obedience. The New Testament consistently joins:
- God’s grace
- Our faith
- Our obedience to Christ
Faith responds to God’s grace by obeying His commands (Hebrews 5:9). This is not legalism—it is trust expressed through action.
Grace is God’s part. Faith and obedience are our response.
Hope of Eternal Life
The gospel offers a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3). This hope is not uncertain—it is a confident expectation based on God’s promises.
Eternal life is:
- A gift from God (Romans 6:23)
- Promised to the faithful (Revelation 2:10)
- Rooted in the resurrection (John 11:25–26)
- The final victory over death (1 Corinthians 15:54–57)
Christians live with assurance, not fear. Our hope is anchored in the risen Lord and the promise of life with Him forever.
